Ross Holt - Chief Executive Officer, LandCorp

Ross Holt

LandCorp is a government trading enterprise and operates as the Western Australian Government’s specialist property development agency. It provides a commercially oriented vehicle for delivering the strategic land development goals of the State.

Ross leads a dedicated team of professional staff across fields as diverse as property, business administration and strategic marketing helping LandCorp operate with a triple bottom line approach.  More than 50 per cent of its more than 200 projects throughout the State are located outside the capital city of Perth.

Resources rich Western Australia covers an area of 1million square miles – one third of the continental land mass of the Australian continent.

Under Ross's leadership, LandCorp has focussed on sustainable development outcomes for the benefit of the Western Australian community.

LandCorp has sought to extend those outcomes to the built form through the application of design and building guidelines and through joint ventures with the private sector development and building industries.

 

Nicky Cusworth - Director, Macro-Economic Policy
WA Department of Treasury and Finance

Ross Holt

Nicky graduated from Oxford University with a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and commenced her career in research and journalism.  Her focus at this time was on pay, industrial relations, collective bargaining and broader economic issues for an independent UK research company, Incomes Data Service.

In 1989 Nicky migrated from the UK to Australia for climate, environment and lifestyle; becoming an Australian citizen in 1991.  She became a researcher for the Small Business Development Corporation and then the Chief Economist for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia.

Nicky became the Director of Macro-Economic Policy for the WA Department of Treasury and Finance in 2005.  Her responsibilities include:

  • Developing policy advice to the Treasurer and other Ministers on revenue and economic issues;
  • Overseeing forecasts of key economic variables, and ensuring that the Government is informed of economic trends;
  • Providing advice to the government on issues for Western Australia in the design and implementation of an emissions trading scheme;
  • Directing research into the Western Australian economy.

 

Stuart Nuttall - Director, Valuation & Advisory Services,

CB Richard Ellis

Stewart Nuttall is the Senior Director of Valuation and Advisory Services of the Perth office of CB Richard Ellis.

With over 15 years experience in commercial valuations, Stewart has a broad knowledge of the local and national real estate market. Areas of specialisation including acquisitions and disposals, rent reviews, feasibility studies and valuations of institutition grade assets such as CBD offices and shopping centres.

Stewart is an Associate of the Australian Property Institute and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Cameron Maclean - Partner, DLA Phillips Fox

Cameron practices in the areas of litigation and insurance, with a particular specialty in negligence claims against professionals.

He claims partial responsibility for the professional indemnity insurance crisis through his work on the 2001 seminal High Court decision of Henville v Walker, which decision lead to the introduction of proportionate liability for professional negligence claims.

 

Tony Gorman - Partner, Glendinning & Associates

Tony completed a Bachelor of Business degree (Property) at Curtin University in February 1990.

He commenced work with Glendinning & Associates in 1991, having previously been involved with real estate sales and leasing. Tony has undertaken a wide range of commercial, industrial and residential valuations with a high standard of competency and been involved in the growth of the Company. He is an integral part of the management structure.

He holds a private pilot’s license and has utilised this expertise to assist in valuing remote country properties as well as allowing Executives & Risk Managers of major eastern states based clients to obtain a far better understanding of Perth; its metropolitan area and surrounding districts from the air.

Richard Muirhead, Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Western Australia

Richard Muirhead is the Cheif Executive Officer of Tourism Western Australia. It's purpose is to develope, promote and protect Western Australia's iconic tourism experiences. Tourism Western Australia works in partnership with the tourism industry and a wide range of government and private sector stakeholders to ensure Western Australia is promoted as an attractive tourist, event, convention and incentive travel destination. It also works to enhance the State's transport and tourism infrastructure and products base.

Richard joined the Western Australian Public Sector in 1987, bringing with him some 14 years of private sector experience in market research and marketing, including in his own company, which was sold to a major national research group in 1986.

He originally joined the (then) Western Australian Technology & Industry Development Authority (TIDA) as the Director of the Marketing Division.  Apart from two years in London (1990-1991) as Director of Trade and Investment of the Western Australian European Office, he remained with the Department in its various guises as Executive Director of Trade and Industry Development until 1997.

In mid-1997 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the WA Department of Commerce & Trade, the State’s premier industry and trade development agency - a post he held until May 2001, when he left to head up the (then) Western Australian Tourism Commission.

Richard is also the current chair of the Australian Standing Committee on Tourism (ASCOT), and a member of Swan Bells Foundation Board. On property related issues, Richard has also been appointed by the WA Government to sit on the new Perth Waterfront Taskforce and the Western Victoria Quay Advisory Committee.

Richard, who was born in South Australia, has lived for 29 years in Western Australia.  He has 3 children aged 10, 27 and 28 years old.

 

Andrew Bouhlas, Senior Analyst, Research , Jones Lang LaSalle

Andrew is a Senior Analyst within Jones Lang LaSalle’s Perth office.  His role includes the research and preparation of commentaries on key WA markets, including the Perth CBD and West Perth office, Perth Industrial and Perth Retail markets via the collection, maintenance and analysis of market data relating to the Perth commercial property markets.

Andrew provides research support to all business units in the Perth office and also has input into national research reports and support to the national research team as required.

Andrew has many years experience as an economic and research analyst, working in both the public and private sector, including 3 years in the property industry.  He has extensive experience in market demand and supply analysis, data analysis and statistics.

Andrew’s experience includes, industrial and commercial consulting, economic modelling as well as data modelling and data analysis for a number of consulting projects.

 

Erwin Edlinger, Manager , Research & Consultancy, Colliers International

Erwin has over 6 years market research and property analysis experience with extensive experience in regards to property research and market analysis in the residential, commercial and industrial property markets. Erwin joined Colliers International in early 2007 in Valuations and was later employed as the Manager of Research.

Erwin is currently involved in collating and presenting analysis of current and future trends within the Perth property market and assists local and interstate clients with their property investment decisions. His research covers all sectors of the Perth Commercial market as well as having previous research experience within the residential building and land markets. Erwin also has direct involvement in providing consultancy property advice and market analysis for strategic projects and redevelopments in the metropolitan area.

PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Erwin is a member of the API, has a degree in Marketing and a Masters in Property from Curtin University and has been successfully involved in the identification, acquisition and development of new sites and distributions centres for two Australasian companies throughout Western Australia. He is also responsible for the distribution of high quality and sought after property market reports on the Commercial, Industrial and Retail property markets.

 

Barry Brakey, Investment Director, Private Markets, Future Fund

Barry Brakey is the Investment Director, Private Markets, at the Future Fund. Barry will focus on developing and managing the Fund’s property investments.

Barry has wide ranging experience in the property sector. In 1988, Barry co-founded Pinnacle Property Group. He has an extensive knowledge of the operation of the property capital markets and the issues associated with investment by superannuation and investment funds. He has significant experience in implementing and managing domestic and global property investment strategies, selecting listed property securities managers, investing in wholesale direct property funds and property syndicates, and managing asset acquisition and disposal programs.

Barry is a Life Fellow of the Australian Property Institute, Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and a Certified Practising Valuer. He is a member of the Property Council Capital Markets Roundtable Executive Committee and sits on various Fund Advisory Committees. He is a past National President of the Australian Property Institute.

David Moore, National President of the Australian Property Institute

A valuer since 1979, his particular forte is in industrial properties, retail properties and general consultancy advice.  David was appointed as a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute in 1994.

He has served the Property Institute in numerous roles over many years and was elected National President in May 2009.

David is a Director at Quantia Valuation Consultants involves him in client representation in commercial rent reviews and expert witness advice to the Federal, Supreme and Family Law Courts as well as the State Administrative Tribunal.
